J. Leivas long lasting Beech Soft Rods are made of specially hardened beech wood.

In a special procedure each stick is being bathed for a week in a mixture of water and a natural wood glue. After that, the rods slowly dry several weeks.

When binding the rods, the natural glue is used again. Vulcanized soft caoutchouc placed in the center absorbs some energy when playing, resulting in a soft, rounded, warm and well defined sound
